In the early 2000s, Lakeway FoP spent many workdays to buildout the Canyonlands and Mt. Lakeway trail systems. They provided several miles of trails that have since been expanded largely by the mountain bike community and continue into rough hollow.
In 2018 the group built a bird blind in the Hamilton Greenbelt to allow folks to rest and enjoy some quiet solitude while watching birds in their natural habitat.
Lakeway FoP has a long history of installing bridges throughout Lakeway's greenbelts to help trail users cross numerous creeks and other wet spots.
Lakeway FoP built the scenic overlook area near the north end of the Hamilton Greenbelt. It is perched atop a hill giving hikers a beautiful place to stop and rest and enjoy the view over Hurst Creek.
Friends of the Parks currently maintains four separate garden beds. Two at City Park, the Barnes and Butterfly gardens, as well as one at Hamilton Greenbelt Main trailhead, and one more at the entry to Canyonlands trails.
With coordination with the city and Hill Country Birds of Lakeway, the group installed three large purple martin house complexes. FoP maintains the houses through the year and tracks how many birds nest, lay their eggs, and how many fledglings the houses support.
